QUICK MAKEUP TIP – EYESHADOW SHIMMER

Shimmer under the eyebrow (personally) i think is a very dated look. It really reminds me of the 80s! But its still one of the most used eyeshadow techniques around. As a general rule – the more eyelid and crease space you have the less shimmer you want to apply under the brow. The less space the more you can play around with this. Remember anything you highlight STANDS OUT or COMES TOWARD THE PERSON LOOKING AT YOU. So if you have a HUGE space between the crease and your brow and you highlight with lots of shimmer you’re basically drawing attention to that area. Same thing applies with shimmer anywhere on the face – anything you highlight will stand out. So think about the places on the face and eyes you want to stand out and highlight them and leave the places you don’t.

I have light blonde hair, blue eyes, and VERY pale skin and I find that a lot of times makeup looks too harsh and costume-y but if I don’t wear any my features, especially my eyes, sort of get lost. Any tips or ideas on how to do my makeup in a way that looks good for everyday wear and isn’t too overdone?

I had never thought about that tip about crease space and how to best play it up. Now that you mention it, I have seen plenty of women with lots of space (and lots of shimmer) and that’s all you notice. :) I will definitely be a little lighter-handed with the shimmer from now on. :)
