I want to wear really red lipstick for the holidays, pic enclosed…?

Question by Me: I want to wear really red lipstick for the holidays, pic enclosed…?
I have an awesome true red lipstick that I want to wear… I bought it but never got the nerve to wear it. I want to know what color pallette for my eye makeup and blush. I tried the smoky black and grey but that makes me look like a gothic chic… maybe I am not the right skin tone and hair color to wear red… any idea? Heres a link to my pic ( its nothing racy, trust me!) http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l162/ahammondtx/october029.jpg
The pic of me was just to show you my skin tone and hair color for you guys to give me your opinion… thats not the red shade ( its my everyday color)… sorry for leaving that out!

I think that color looks nice on you. Bright red would probably look good too. You’re very pretty.

Okay, this will sound plain, but I promise you will look great! Use a shadow that matches your skin tone all over the lid and then black eyeliner on the upper lashes only. A ton of mascara and a little blush in the same color family as the red. If you feel like the eyes are too plain, then use a little highlighter on the browbone. I did this and it looked great, even though I thought I would look really plain. It really punched up my look. Good luck trying this!

I was going to suggest a smokey gray eye but… you could also do a smokey eye using brown shadows and neutral tones rather than black and gray if it’s too dramatic. I think you could pull off a true red for sure. Good luck.

I would stay with lighter colors like pinks peaches something like that it might dull the red down a little but there won’t be such a contrast. But then I am a guy so I am guessing.

Try like a silver and sort of blue color for eye shadow, you could also use some eye liner any color really.(if you want to bring out your eyes) Mascara, basic pink blush. For a sort of warm color you could try using those color blends from maybeline try like a berries color, more pink than red or purple. Well good luck!!!

Do it! Wear red! You can carry it off.Wear it and be proud! Gray and plum for eyes maybe. You have time.Play around with it.You can do the red without going heavy on eye shadow too. Google Ashly Judd.

OK. for the base of your eye color, a very light beige ( NOT WHITE). then contour with med-dark brown ( make sure you blend) then use a med /light brown eyeliner ( your eyes will glow) black mascara, and a matte blush. i recommend Loreal’s ” naturale” light softening blush (#289) its in the long Grey compact. it looks good, and feels very light on your skin. then use a nice dark wine lip liner, and your dark lip stick.your eyes will be as stunning as your lips! Promise!!!

You can wear it and the smokey blacks and grey’s will work. It’s all a matter or how much black you use. Try a nutural shimmer on the inside of the eyelid (from the inside corner and fan it outward) and then use a shimmer grey from the outside corner of your eyelid to where the nutral shimmer ended. Blend the two where they meet. Then take a smaller brush and put a tiny but of black in the crease of the eyelid. Don’t put too much ot it will trun out gothic. Make sure you blend well. You want the black to look like its giving your eyes a sort of pop! You don’t want it to look like you took a maker and drew a black like in the crease. Take your nutual again and brush it on your eyebrow bone to make it stand out. If none of this is making sense i would try the MAC Cosmetics website. You can get an idea of what im talking about. Good luck.

Go for it I bought some red last year and never got the nerve up either maybe I will this year . Who cares what other people think anyway.

A bright red would look great on you. Be sure to keep your other makeup simple, though. Your lips are going to be a bright shade, and pairing them with dark, heavy makeup elsewhere can make a person look like a clown. Go neutral with your eye makeup. It would probably be best to stick with light earth tones, and nothing too shimmery. If you happen to be on the more daring side, Gwen Stefani’s signature look is bright red lipstick paired with eyes thinly lined with black eyeliner. On your cheeks, a peach shade would look very nice, or even a soft pink. Hope that helps!

i think it would look good on u try and if ppl don’t like it don’t worry about them then as long as u like it

Red will look amazing on you!!What you can do is wear a shimmery brown on you lids because it will make your eyes pop out because you have blue eyes (or green) anyway, that way you will look like you have make up on and not just some lipstick. Put on the eyeshadow, some mascara, maybe some eyeliner but keep it very simple that way yoy dont look to overdone!!
good luck and hope this helps!

What do you mean by really red?? You should take a picture of that too. Is it blue based or orange based? That will make a difference.

You can do the paler face foundation. With a transparent sweep of reddish/pink or reddish/orange blush (mineral makeup)depending on the lipstick.

Then for your eyes, like a vanilla all over and a littler deeper shade in the crease. “No Color” colors. And back 50′ish eyeliner on your top lid. This month’s issue of Cosmo Girl….is a great example of this look.

You want your lips to really be the attention getter. Put concealer around your lips before your foundation. Uae a realy sharp lip liner, to get a real clean line. You could even make your lower lip, more pouty looking and really shape your upper lip. then do the dab of highlighter gloss in the middle of your lower lip.

    You’ll look great.

What color lipstick are you wearing in that picture? It’s looks really good. You look great in that picture. Your make up is there, but not over powering, natural looking, and the colors all go so well.

Red is a universal color that most people can pull off. The secret lies in striking a balance with the rest of your face. You don’t want your eyes and your lips to be the focal point. If you go with dramatic eyes and lips, you will risk looking like a clown. The paler the rest of your make up is, the more ‘pop’ your lips will have. With your complexion, I would say you want to go light on the eye shadow and the blush. Maybe go without liner and opt only for two coats of mascara in black, dust your face with powder and use a soft blush to give just a ‘wash of color’ on your cheeks. It sounds like you love the color lipstick you have, so don’t force your lips to compete with eyes. Keep your eyes very simple. You will be surprised how much blue eyes stand out with red lipstick
